This computational efficiency has been leveraged in recent works which have proposed heuristics to generate constraint tightening along the MPC prediction horizon. Although conservative, this preserves the guarantees provided by tube MPC (recursive feasibility, stability) and can be implemented at the computational cost of nominal MPC, which can be orders of magnitude lower. An alternative method, called constraint tightening, computes the worst case evolution of the system and tightens the constraints accordingly.
